Oscar Night in L.A.!

Last night's Oscars was one of the funniest I've seen in a few years. I really liked Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin's pair up. They equally matched up! I thought it was hilarious how they dissed everybody and yet didn't dare to say anything about George Clooney! HAHA! I love George!

K, let's get it out of the way..I am SO happy Monique won! I haven't seen the movie "Precious" YET but I've heard all about it and read the reviews and I must say I decided NOT to see it at the movies for fear of lots and lots of tears and anger. So I am waiting for it to come out on dvd and I will then buy it and have it at home for my own viewing. I am confident that my purchase will be worth my while. SO back to her win, I loved her speech here as well as the Golden Globes! I think that the whole thing with her discussing her "open marriage" is HER business and if it works for her and Sidney then "BRAVO" for them! To each is own. DO NOT JUDGE SOMEONE ELSE'S HOME! I also think we need to leave her alone on her preference of not shaving her legs. As she discussed in the Barbara Walters special, it's just her thing so who cares! Come on people there are seriously MORE important things in the world going on then to zoom in on Monique's open marriage and hairy legs (which are not that hairy by the way). Her man loves her so who are we to talk ish? She looked great, I think the dress color was a perfect tone for her skin and Sid looked nice too! Hey Miss Parker!

Now on to "America's other sweetheart" a.k.a. Sandra Bullock. K, first let me say that I love HER, did I say I love HER! I mean she is a guy's guy and a girl's girl. She is the perfect balance and I get why she says that her and Jesse are not that different. We don't know her other side nor do we see his but I am glad it works for them because I love this partnership! At first, I was kind of like "wha Sandra Bullock? How do you go from hot ass, porn goddess Janine to Sandy Bullock" but I GET IT! I still LOVE you Janine! Girl is gifted! HAHA. K, that's a WHOLE other blog!I really thought the makeup was subtle and loved her red lips and I liked her dress. I wasn't blown away with it but I thought she looked great! I really liked her acceptance speech because really our "moms" are our role models. I also would like to add that I LOVE the cut-aways to Jesse when she is talking because he seems honestly and truthfully proud of her and that he truly "has her back." Way to go Sandra! I can't wait to see "The Blind Side."

Meryl Streep, wow what can I say other than she is the BEST actress of MY time. Of course, there may be those who disagree but this is MY blog and therefore my Point of View and opinions so MERYL STREEP IS THE BEST ACTRESS OF MY TIME! I can't even begint to imagine where this woman grabs her inspiration for each character she plays. "The Devil Wears Prada" is a classic example of a role I would never have seen her in. Even the ladder movies of her like "Death Becomes Her" was great! I AGAIN haven't seen Julie/Julia (or vice versa) either. But if there was another nomination (her 16th) than I am going to watch this movie as well! I thought she was dressed as she is usually is, classic, simple yet sheik. I truly have an "awe" feeling when I see you Meryl and you are my favorite actress PERIOD!

Let's go on to MY girl JENNIFER LOPEZ! I first want to say I RARELY ever see Jen off her mark. What I mean is that she rarely ever (if at all) looks bad. She has a fly yet fashionable sense of style and this dress was no exception. I read on a comment that her dressed resembled "bubble wrap." I didn't see that at all. If anything I immediately thought of "cotton candy." I thought she worked it, looked amazing and FUCK what the haters said! That's right, FUCK THE HATERS! However, I wasn't happy with the hair...but I still give her a 9 out of 10 (the one point being the lack of hair pop)! Go J-LO!!!

Let's talk about all theother random people that showed up. Did anybody see Michelle Pfeiffer My lord that woman never ages! I love her!

My girl "LA" a.k.a. Queen Latifah brought out her Dana Owen swag last night. I loved her in the pnk dress. I thought she looked really classy and beautiful! Our cover girl. Wow, hasn't she come a long way fromt he days when she asked, "who you calling a bitch?" Love you Latifah!! U.N.I.T.Y.!

My boy Colin Farrell made an appearance...GOD does this man ever look bad? Just ONE part of my dream threesome (ok TMI but I'm just keeping it real). The other part, David Beckham...YUM! K, just wanted to shout him out! I need to watch me some S.W.A.T. (ooh the beach scene) damn, ok I'm gonna leave it at that! love you Colin!

Cameron Diaz..stunning, absolutely beautiful, really! Enough said! Why did you and Justin have to break up?? Damn, ok, let it go! Go Cameron D!

Ok now my WTF were they thinking thoughts came when I saw the following on the red carpet. Let's first start off with Nicole Ritchie, loved the dress, I did just NOT on her. I honestly felt like she showed up and said, "huh we're where?" because that's what you looked like on the red carpet. Sorry! But I love you bitch!

Next came when I saw Maggie Gyllenhaal. The dress, ok nice, I guess BUT so NOT for the Oscar's red carpet or ANY formal for that matter! But she is a little to the left anyway right? However, I DO love her and I can't forget her dark movie character in the freaky tale of "The Secretary" with James Spader! YUM! Love that movie! Plus, I DO love her more than her bro. So just get a new stylist or work it out, either I do love you Maggie!

I had to save the "HOT MESS" for last.....Mariah Carey! K, let me start by saying that I loved Mimi when she first came out, then when she ventured into her "Honey" days, which is one of my fav Mariah songs of all time. Then I held on while she "came out" a little more and started hanging with my boys Jigga and Diddy but let's keep it real..Mariah always dresses like she's attending the AVN awards which is the Oscars of the Porn World! I think she's already a MILF and let the 20 something wardrobe go! It's like she doesn't age and change her clothing while she does. She's also a little thicker these days (oh my bad that could be her boy toy/umbrella holder/tax write off) a.k.a. her husband! I just didn't vibe the whole blue dress with the "usual high slit" wow, surprise surprise. I'm sorry Mariah, how about really blow us away and wear something with NO SLITS, NO leg shots period, NO CLEAVAGE shots, we know, you're proud of your purchase but come on! Not even for the Oscars? Sorry Mimi, two thumbs down!

I did LOVE the John Hughes ribute. Let's face it, who didn't grow up during one of these classic 80's teenage angst movies! I love you John Hughes! I think it was awesome that Molly Ringwald (who was his 80's muse) came out to honor him. It was also great to see Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Jon Cryer, and Matthew Broderick! I also found it fitting that it ended with a classic line from my favorite John Hughes movie, "Life goes by pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." ~~Ferris Bueller

It ended on a high note with a WOMAN winning Best Director and her movie, "The Hurt Locker" winning Best Movie! All in all a good night. I have to admit, I have a lot of movies to catch up on and I will begin my viewing with all the nominated Oscar movies...TI'd like to give thanks to the academy for a pleasant night....

Sunday afternoon before the Oscars!

So after having fallen asleep at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night, I awoke at 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning! Now we're going on day 3 of a full and non-working toilet so I decided to venture out and clear my mind of the clutter and non-existent toilet that is currently occupying my place of stay (at the moment). The day seemed bright and sunny but it actually was an off/on sunny day as the warmth and bright sun would be replaced with cool breezes and the occasional cloud. A few specks of rain fell as I ventured off to run a few errons.

I first went to the neighborhood Sally's to pick up my hair dye and some AMAZING leave in spray known as, "Miracle 7" which retails at $14.99. I KNOW, expensive but really worth it. I call it the modern day, "no more tangles." Anybody remember that? Gosh how I loved that when I was little!! I use Clairol dye but the color of which hair dye I use shall remain nameless as I have vowed to NEVER reveal the color! LOL. Call me crazy but it's my secret and I can honestly say a handful of people know the color and have vowed to also keep my secret or else (hahahaha). However, on my deathbed, it's identity will come to light as I have said that I will include 2 bottles of hair dye and directions for the morgue people to do the day of my funeral. God may have created me as a brunette but baby he is getting a redhead in return ;-) I also bought some "Baby Soft" spritzer with lotion. I have worn this and love love love it! I spray it when I run errons, straight out of the shower, and usually before bedtime! Again, it must be the little girl in me but if I like it, I use it! Nuff' said!

After a much needed trip to Sally's, I then went next door to the neighborhood Hello Kitty seller to check out the new merchandise. This is the deadliest store next to the actual Sanrio. I think I actually shop here more than I shop at Sanrio! Anyhow, I walked out having spent $43.00 which is REALLY good for me! I bought a little shamrock folder with a magnetic clasp to hold it closed, 2 pens (silver H.K. pen which I already own in gold) and a Badtz Maru pen. He is hella hard and rare to find. I also bought a green eyeliner for Beer Day and a new anklet with H.K. on it in silver. I love it!! I also bought the cutest "to-go" clutch which is in denim and is in the shape of H.K.'s face while she rocks some heart-shaped glasses! The last thing I bought was a holder/kit to hold my Nintendo DS. Of course in Hello Kitty. The ear buds have her face on them too! I am never and will NEVER be too old for my Hello Kitty! Love love love her!

Then when all was done with the errons, I went to King Taco for some carne asada sopes, a cheese quesadilla, and large horchata! YUM! Sounds good right? Yeah, I only ever finish ONE sope, a bite of the quesadilla, and the drink lasts me all day!
So all in all, decent day, good meal, and rested til' the Oscars started!!

What happened to MY J-LO (a.k.a. Jennifer Lopez)?

The video ("I'm Gonna Be Alright") was one of her HOTTEST videos to date and THIS is the Jennifer I miss. This Jennifer was known as "Jenny", "J-LO", and "Jenny From The Block!" I don't see that when I look at her anymore. I idolized THIS woman, praised her, HELL I even mocked her (let's keep it real, a lot of us did/do! She was the quintessential guy's girl and girl's girl. Classy yet sheik, fly girl with a ghetto fabulous style..designer brands off the runway with a little J-LO kick!

The good ol' days when she was still rolling around with "PUFFY" as he was known then. The days when she sang "I'm Real" on stage with Ja Rule and stole the show! The days when she would wear her J-LO denim jumpsuit or her velour outfits with heels...ONLY Jenny Lo could rock that style!

Back when she remixed her "I'm Real" and "I'm Gonna Be Alright" jams! The days when she asked "the DJ to play her motherfuckin' song!" The day when you remembered her for being the "Fly Girl" on In Living Color and NOT for dating Ben what's his name!
BEFORE MARC ANTHONY.....back when it was JUST her and Benny Medina!

Oh Jenny Lo..whatever happened to my Fly Girl who was the ish and didn't take ish from anbody. The round the way girl who KNEW she was from the Bronx and didn't hide it behind movie stars and strictly designer dresses! The girl who stole the show for rocking out an already worn dress by a famous designer...
I want to remember when you "weren't fooled by the rocks that you got, cuz you were still Jenny from the Block!" The girl who did duets with Fat Joe, LL Cool J, Ja Rule, Nas, and 50 Cent.

I miss you so my J-Lo...don't get me wrong, I STILL love you and I always will. But I prefer you B4 Marc Anthony, B4 the twins, B4 the preggos concert I saw you at in L.A. at the Staples, B4 Ben what's his name!

LOVE you and your movies (Wedding Planner/Maid In Manhattan) and the On the 6, J-LO, and J to the LO Remixes!

I'm still a fan but I had to be real and say that i prefer you than as opposed to now.

Halloween 2009

So this year I honestly had a blast hanging out with old friends, new friends and a close family member of mine. I got a little creative with costume ideas, then wound up settling for one I loved, Miss Krueger. I had this awesome face mask for one side of my face but the damn spirit gum I bought irritated my skin and by the time I was finally done attaching it, my face was on fire! Gotta say thanks to E for helping me put it on. Anyhow, that kinda bummed me out for my costume so I went more cute than half cute to my Halloween/Birthday party!

Anyhow, I am happy to report that I was the ONLY Miss Krueger in the house and not even a sighting of the O.G. Freddy himself made an appearance. Come to think of it, I didn't see one Michael Jackson impersonator NOR did I ever hear "Thriller" played. Hmm interesting. It's like a given that you'd play that song on Halloween or in honor of it. I mean come, you KNOW dj's couldn't wait for 1999 new year's eve night to play Prince's "1999" so why not oblige the same to M.J.? Anyway, I had a blast, saw some great friends (old friends from the "I'm in my 20's days) and also met some new ones that I think will become great ones (Jessica)! I also hung out with a close confidante of mine and it felt good to have some ME time. On the actual night of Halloween, I decided to stay in for fear of damn 5-O's and also drunken drivers. Though I turned in early that night, I kept waking up because my mom and bros were out..they had a great time too from what I hear ;-) Mojo even got in on the action. She was the "Little Devil" which suits her because she straight out doesn't give a hoot! Alright, enough rambling, enjoy the pics and hope your Halloween was just as fun as mine.

HAPPY 35th BIRTHDAY HELLO KITTY!

My fixation with Hello Kitty began when I was around 8 or 9 years old. I remember a friend of mine came to school with some stamp sets and stickers and wanted to trade some of her stuff for some of my lunch. I had the best lunches at school. My mom's packing of my lunchobox was legendary! Not only would I get a spectacular sandwich, but she would also put the top juice boxes, chips, twinkies/zingers, string cheese, pickles, etc. I mean at any given time at lunch I would sit down at the bench and have 10 classmates sit beside me begging me for something out of my lunchbox. On this particular day, my friend Margarita, a little natural redhead with freckles, who I later nicknamed "Strawberry Shortcake" asked me for my chips. I was ready to hand them over when she suddenly pulled out this stamp set and said, "I'll trade you these for your chips." I set my eyes on that stamp set and it was love at first sight. I still have that stamp set! I then told my mom about it and she took me to my first of many trips to the Sanrio store.

I have owned everything from stickers, notepads, purses, shirts, underwear, sweaters, stamps, jewelry, shoes, etc. The list goes on and on! I can never have too much! I then became a My Melody fan as well. However, Hello Kitty would be my first love. As time went on, my passion for her grew further. I began purchasing things for my office and car. When my nieces were born, I bought them Hello Kitty as well. I have also been known to purchase items of her for children of friends and also my younger cousins. I have thought about getting a tattoo (small but still present) as well. I am just not sure where I would put it. But I am still considering it! Anybody who knows me knows my love for her. I am 35 years old now and I must say that my love for Hello Kitty has NOT dwindled one bit! I still love her til' this day and I will forever love her!

HAPPY 35th BIRTHDAY HELLO KITTY! You have and will always continue to bring joy to my life!

Over the Past....

It's crazy to run into your past because you expect all of these emotions to come forth and readily prepare yourself to run. Yet that SO did not happen to me when I ran into my past last week. I felt no butterflies (in a bad way), no jitters, no shortness of breath, nothing. That was before I even entered the building. Now granted, I didn't know for sure that the past would even appear but I was prepared for it regardless. Once I was in the presence of the past, I can't even explain the emotions I felt. I guess if I had to sum it up in one word it would be NOTHING! Absolutely nothing. I mean I was a bit surprised that I truly felt nothing. In the midst of all that nothingness, I can't say that the "past" took it the same way. HAHAHAHAHA, karma always comes back around to bite you in the ASS. I feel nothing for the past but I am grateful to have experienced it. I learned that there were certain things I do not want to ever feel again and I also learned that love doesn't hurt! Not true love. So thank you the "past" for without you, I could never have been as strong as I am now and I never would have met a MAN that would change my life and prove that GOD does make the perfect mate for you. On the other hand, kiss my ass because all you'll ever have are the memories I left behind. On to the future......
