Law & Order: Los Angeles

I am half asleep after being woken up at the crack of dawn by someone knocking on my door while I slept on the couch with the blinds wide-open, due to the heat, only to look up and have a guy staring back down at me while I lay in my jammies, all things out in the open (you know what I mean). Nicely done MORON! (You know who I'm talking about). Okay, enough of my rant. On to the topic at hand.

Let me first say that Law & Order: SVU as always, NEVER disappoints me and from the season premiere, I am SOLD! Great guest appearances so far.I loved Jennifer "Love" Hewitt's performance as I loved the Season Premiere with Joan Cusack. Chris Meloni, Mariska Hargitay, Richard Beltzer, and Ice-T are the shit! Great acting, great story lines, great guest appearances, simply put, AN AWESOME SHOW!

BUT, Law & Order: Los Angeles? Umm, I cant honestly say I was impressed. To me, it seems a lil' wet behind the ears. I mean after having to follow a longtime "hit" show like SVU and following another good show, the original L&O, which at its own has had a circle of cast that's gone on from everyone as the original Chris Noth better known now to the followers of Sex & The City (Lord knows I am) as "Mr. Big" to Anthony Anderson.

Much to my dismay, like many other loyal Law & Order lovers who have been with the show from its original air date (like me), I figured THIS new show would be a hit out of the park. But to me, it fell just short of blah blah blah. Who recognized that storyline last night? I mean, don't get me wrong, SVU rips from the headlines all the time, but they do it in such a way that it is written WELL. Yet, I was not pulled in by the intrigue of the plot line. Each seen got duller and duller for me. There wasn't that one moment where you think, damn I thought I knew who it was but it's actually such and such. You know what I mean? I mean, there was no OOMPH to it is the best way I can express how I felt. I am glad I recorded it because I honestly fell asleep the last 15 mins of the show. I have NEVER done that while watching any of the casts of the original show nor SVU.

Now back to the original Law & Order with Jerry Orbach ('Det. Lennie Briscoe'), Chris Noth ('Det. Mike Logan'), Epatha Merkerson ('Lt. Anita Van Buren') and Jill Hennessey ('A.D.A. Claire Kincaid'--anybody remember Crossing Jordan?--loved that show too--, that was a GOOD show. Then the cast changed throughout the years bringing in Benjamin Bratt (Det. Rey Curtis), Jesse L. Martin ('Det. Ed Green'), Angie Harmon('A.D.A. Abie Carmichael'), Alana De la Garza ('A.D.A. Connie Rubirosa'),
Jeremy Sisto ('Det. Cyrus Lupo'), Anthony Anderson ('Det. Kevin Bernard'), Sam Waterson ('A.D.A.Jack McKoy'), or Annie Parisse ('A.D.A. Alexandria Borgia')--remember when they faked her death and she went under the witness protection program?--ok ok you get where I'm going with this.

A lot of them did cross-overs onto SVU as well. I was SOO PIST when Law & Order was cancelled. Come on really? Then they announced this show, Los Angeles, and hyped it up all year even thought they hadn't written one storyline. The funny thing, is it is from the same creator as all of the Law & Order series but I am not eager to see it next week. It just didn't pull me in.

NEW CAST: Terrence Howard (everywhere but a few of my favs, 'The Brothers', 'Hustle & Flow', and , Skeet Ulrich ('Det. Rex Winters')--Scream--, Alfred Molina ('A.D.A. Molina)--Not Without My Daughter--good movie with Sally Fields--, and Cory Stoll ('Det. Tomas "TJ" Jaruszalski')--who?--I don't think I've seen anything with this guy in it.

Don't get me wrong as I will be tuning in next week in the HOPES that a certain FINE ASS, did I say FINE, caramel complected, wooing eyes having, sultry voice backed with a whole lot of swag, Mr. Terrence Howard. If nothing else, HE will keep me coming back.

Overall rating 1-10-----6 for me and I'm being generous. It is my take that if this show makes it and actually stays on, it'll only be because of the strong following of the SVU fans who will stay and watch since they so brilliantly air it after SVU!

The critics rated it an 8 and think the story lines will rightfully so be very different than SVU and the plot lines ripped from the headlines as well as the locations will be the backbone of what draws in the loyal SVU follower. They are right. It's like reeling in me with a beer, throw in some football and hot chicks/guys and I am sold!

Hope you guys enjoyed the show whether you agree or disagree with me.

I will remain a L&O junkie, at least for SVU anyway!
Note to creator Dick Wolf, maybe Terrence should've been in the premiere.........just sayin'.
